The last few months have been quite a journey—and a steep learning curve! Stepping into the world of handmade pet wear with Pups in Merino marks the very first time I’ve ever sold something I’ve created with my own hands.
To be completely honest, it’s been equal parts terrifying and exhilarating.
Naturally, the self-doubt started creeping in almost immediately:
-
Will anyone actually buy what I make?
-
Did I make a huge mistake starting this venture?
-
What if people don't like my colour choices?
-
What if the sizes don't fit any dogs?
- How am I going to manage this alongside a full time job?
On top of the doubts, there’s been a mountain of brand-new skills to tackle behind the scenes:
-
📱 Social Media – Learning how to showcase my creations and build a community.
-
🎨 Graphic Design – Navigating Canva to bring the brand to life.
-
💼 The "Boring" Back-of-House Stuff – Crunching numbers, setting up the website (a huge thank-you to Shopify!), and dipping my toes into advertising.
Despite the rollercoaster of emotions, I’ve decided to embrace the process with an open mind. I’m viewing every challenge as a chance to learn, adapt, and grow right alongside this fledgling business.
Thank you so much for joining me at the beginning of this cosy journey! I can't wait to share more limited edition collections with you and your furry friends.
